This is Buddy a lovely ten-month-old male Golen Retriever looking for a home. He is neutered, vet checked, microchipped and vaccinated. Buddy is good on a lead, house trained, although not used to living indoors in the house. Good with other dogs.
Buddy has snapped at a four-year-old when approached. New owner will need to be aware of this and will need to help Buddy overcome this. Buddy also jumps up on people, but this is because he is excited to see you as he lives outside.

Addressing food protectiveness in dogs involves creating a calm and secure environment during meal times and employing positive reinforcement techniques. Training methods such as feeding in a quiet place, hand-feeding, and teaching commands like “wait” can be effective.
Additionally, to manage a dog’s tendency to jump on people, consistent training to keep all four paws on the floor, rewarding calm behaviour, and teaching alternative greetings like sitting can help. It’s important for a new owner to understand these behaviours and work patiently with Buddy, using kind and gentle methods to build trust and correct these behaviours.
Remember that adopting a pet is a long-term commitment, so consider your lifestyle, living space, and ability to care for a dog before making this decision. If you decide to adopt Buddy or any other dog, you’ll be giving them a loving forever home!
