What a busy year.

2024 has been a remarkably hectic year for your local SPCA, entirely operated by dedicated unpaid volunteers. We’ve accomplished a significant amount of work, and it’s all thanks to your generous support, donations, uplifting words and sponsorship.

Our heartfelt appreciation goes out to our volunteers who selflessly dedicate their time to assist us in caring for the animals. We cannot thank our foster caregivers enough for their extraordinary efforts and their willingness to answer our urgent calls for help. We also extend our gratitude to all our supporters, sponsors, and followers. We thank everyone involved in helping us to help the animals.

Below is a breakdown of our 2024 stats.

Spaying & Neutering: We successfully neutered 113 dogs and 1,339 cats, which included 240 cats involved in T.N.R. efforts.

Sick & Injured: We looked after and provided veterinary care for 730 animals that were sick or injured, with a significant number being kittens in need of care.

Adoption: We were thrilled to find loving homes for 101 dogs and puppies, as well as 283 cats and kittens.

Media: In total, we received 24,122 calls, texts, messages, and emails.

This represents a tremendous amount of effort from your local SPCA, which is primarily run by dedicated unpaid volunteers. Many of them work full-time jobs, and weekends are often dedicated to fundraising activities. We carry out all of this as dedicated volunteers, working from our own homes.

As we approach 2025, we will be implementing some changes. Unfortunately, we no longer have enough front-line volunteers to manage this workload or available to respond immediately to incoming emails and messages, so we will be adjusting as needed going forward. If you would like to Volunteer, please send an email with your details to spca@roscommonspca.ie
