Never Feed Grass Clippings to Horses or Donkeys

  • by

It might look harmless, but lawn clippings can be dangerous — even fatal for equines.

Colic and Chocking

Grass cuttings ferment fast. Horses and donkeys often gulp them down, which can trigger choking and painful, dangerous colic.

Gas Build –Up and Blockages

Once inside the stomach, clippings can ferment into gases that cause severe bloating and life‑threatening impaction.

Hidden Containments

Lawn waste can contain Mold, pesticides, herbicides, or toxic plants, all of which pose significant health risks.

Risk of Overeating

Unlike grazing, where they self‑regulate, equines tend to overeat cut grass, overwhelming their digestive system.

Always dispose of Lawn Clippings safely – never in a Paddock.
