Pip – Living Life to the Full!
Six years ago, Pip left Roscommon SPCA with her precious teddy tucked under her paw. Today, she’s thriving with John and Elaine — loved, spoiled, and still cuddling that same teddy every night.
From rescue to forever home, Pip’s story reminds us how love and care can change a life completely. Here’s to many more happy years for this wonderful girl!
A Little Fighter’s Journey Home
Some stories stay with us long after the emergency has passed — and this little kitten is one of them.
When she first came into our care, she was in pain, frightened, and battling a severe eye infection that left us with no choice but to remove the damaged eye to save her life. She was so tiny, so fragile, and yet there was a spark in her — a quiet determination to keep going and to trust the hands helping her heal.
Her foster family cared for her through every step of that journey. They cleaned her wounds, comforted her through the discomfort, and showed her what safety felt like. Day by day, she grew stronger. Her stitches healed. Her confidence returned. And soon, that scared little kitten blossomed into a beautiful, bright, one‑eyed wonder with a heart full of love.
And then something magical happened — the family who had been nursing her back to health realised they couldn’t imagine their home without her. She had already chosen them, and they chose her right back. Today, she is happy, adored, and living the life every animal deserves: warm beds, gentle hands, and a family who sees her not for what she lost, but for everything she is. These are the moments that remind us why rescue matters. Why every donation, every share, every act of kindness makes a difference. Because behind every emergency call is a life waiting for a chance — and sometimes, a forever home waiting too.

Dóchas’s Journey
Like many animal lovers, we followed Dóchas’s journey on the Roscommon SPCA page, feeling both horrified by what she had endured and relieved to see her thriving in Marie’s care. Losing our own 16-year-old spaniel had been so heartbreaking that we didn’t feel ready to welcome another dog, but Dóchas needed a home—and without realizing it, we needed her too. When we met her, we expected shyness after all she’d been through, but instead she ran straight to us, jumped up, and demanded cuddles—a habit that hasn’t changed. Now, we cherish our cuddle times on the settee or sometimes on dad’s lap. She adores life; our days start with her running around the garden and investigating the grass while the birds are fed, just in case there were any overnight visitors. After breakfast, she patiently waits for her harness, then this eight-year-old switches into puppy mode, loving her adventures in the forest with her mam and dad. This beautiful soul is the happiest, most loving little girl you could ever hope for—we may have given her a home, but she has truly rescued us.
