JULY 2025 Rescue Update from Kilrooskey!
On Friday, Seamus in Kilrooskey discovered three little hedgehog babies nestled in his shed—heartbreakingly, their mother was nowhere to be found. Hoping she might come back, Seamus gently fed them mashed cat food and water, keeping watch for two days.
When mum didn’t return, Seamus reached out to Roscommon SPCA for help. We got in touch with The Hogsprickle Wildlife Carers, and Bev immediately sprang into action. Tomorrow, their wonderful volunteer Corina will pick up the trio and bring them to Hogsprickle, where they’ll be safe, loved, and cared for until they’re strong enough to be released back into the wild.
We’re so grateful to Seamus, Bev, Corina, and everyone helping these precious “spiky butts” find their way forward.

June 2025 Kildare Wildlife Rescue This female red squirrel came into care after she was involved in a road traffic collision in Galway. The finder brought the squirrel to Gorteen Acre Vet in Galway, then transported to the centre by Sally from Roscommon SPCA. After a short stay to recover from head trauma this lucky squirrel was picked up by Sally and returned home. Red squirrels have started to make a comeback thanks to the spread of Pine Marten, who prey on grey squirrel.
